8️⃣ Text to Octal

Convert text to octal numbers and back. Each character becomes its octal code — all in your browser, no upload, instant results.

About the Text to Octal Converter

This text to octal converter runs entirely in your browser. Type or paste text into the input box and click To Octal to see each character as its octal (base-8) code. Paste octal numbers (separated by spaces) and click From Octal to decode them back to text. Nothing is uploaded to a server — the conversion happens instantly with JavaScript on your device.

How it works

  • To Octal — Each character is converted to its ASCII/Unicode code point, then represented as an octal (base-8) number. For example, A (code point 65) becomes 101.
  • From Octal — Each space-separated octal number is parsed and converted back to its corresponding character. For example, 110 151 becomes Hi.

How to use the converter

  1. Paste or type your text (or octal numbers separated by spaces) in the input box.
  2. Click To Octal to encode text, or From Octal to decode octal.
  3. The result appears in the output box.
  4. Click Copy to copy the result, or Clear to start over.
